Spartan Solar Eclipse Glasses

Lima City Schools’ families, alumni and supporters can view the April 8 solar eclipse safely and in style with custom-made Spartan glasses.

The district is selling the glasses for $5 with proceeds going to the creation of a Veterans Wall of Honor in front of Lima Senior High School. The glasses say “Lima Spartans” and include a Spartan head.

Lima has been named one of the 20 best places in North America to view the solar eclipse. Looking directly at an eclipse can be very harmful and people are warned to only do so if they have glasses designed for viewing an eclipse.

People can reserve glasses by clicking the "Order Glasses Here" link to the right.

The glasses are expected to be available in February and cash payment will be due then. People will be notified when they are here. A limited number has been ordered so people are asked to reserve theirs now.

The district is currently raising funds to build a Veterans Wall of Honor in front of Lima Senior High School. It will include the names, year of graduation and branch of service for graduates of Central, South and Lima Senior High Schools.

Veterans and/or family members must complete a form to be included in the project. A digital form can be accessed at www.limacityschools.org. Go to the “Community” tab and find “Veterans Wall of Honor.”

No district money is being used for the wall. Those wanting to donate should make checks out to the Lima City Schools Foundation, with "veteran wall" written in the memo box. Donations can be sent to: Lima City Schools, C/O Beth Jokinen, 755 St. Johns Ave. Lima, OH, 45804.
