Students practice positve relationship skills, including communicating with customers and fellow students, by working in hands-on environments and participating in co-operative work experiences.

The program features an on-campus restaurant, the Spartan Inn. It is operated by the culinary students, giving them real-work experience preparing, presenting, selling and serving a variety of food. The Spartan Inn is open to the public.

Students develop skills in hospitality, sanitation and safety, menu development, customers relations, food preparation, global cuisine, catering, marketing banquet set-up, dining and hospitality software and First Aid/CPR training. Students are able to obtain ProStart and ServSafe certifications and compete in FCCLA competitions. College credit is available.
